UC Merced Program Management

In becoming the 10th campus in the UC system, University of California, Merced is the first new research university of the 21st century. This ambitious undertaking was decades in the planning and a close collaboration between scores of public and private agencies. At the critical outset of on-site construction activities Hallmark Group was selected as the Program Management group tasked with establishing the kind of budgetary, schedule, and quality control measures that would ensure the timely opening of the campus in September 2005.

Through close collaboration with the UC Office of the President, Department of Finance, design and engineering consultants, local municipal agencies, and the newly formed UCM Department of Physical Planning, Design and Construction, Hallmark instituted the types of program protocols required to effectively manage such a large-scale capital improvement program. In the seven years Hallmark operated on campus we assumed a managerial role in the successful completion of every construction related capital improvement. In addition to the state of the art design and construction methods employed at UC Merced, a consistent focus on environmental stewardship led to the campus achieving LEED certification for every project. This is a feat unparalleled on such a large scale.
